Daniel Fox-Davies
Managing Director
Daniel founded the original Fox-Davies Capital Limited in 2001, after previously acting as Head of Institutional Sales at Credit Anstalt in Vienna and SVP and Head of Emerging Markets for Bank of Austria in New York. Grew the original Fox-Davies Capital to become a leading specialist resources investment bank which raised more than £1 billion for clients prior to being sold in 2014. Daniel managed the strategy and operations of the original Fox-Davies Capital and led the equity distribution activities.
James Hehn, CFA
Director
James is a CFA-charter holder with 20 years’ experience in the investment banking and natural resource industries. James previously held natural resource investment banking roles with Deutsche Bank, Macquarie, and Canaccord Capital, and senior management positions with two Asia-based mining exploration / development companies. He has advised a wide range of mining companies including majors and juniors, public and private, and explorers, developers, and producers. James has advised on IPOs, RTOs, dual listings, takeovers, joint-ventures, earn-ins, and divestiture processes, and completed more than $2.5 billion of financings. He has also acted as a member of the management team and investment committee for a small-cap natural resources investment fund.
The Mining Team
Dr. Mark Heyhoe
Dr Heyhoe has over 25 years of experience in mining and natural resources. After working initially as a resource geologist in West Africa and then consultant, he spent eight years in the London capital markets focused on mining. More recently, before joining Fox-Davies, he spent five years as the COO of a Brazilian mining company, taking the company from grassroots exploration, through financing, development and commercial production. He has been a regular media and conference commentator on the mining sector and was a regular contributor for over 15 years to the Mining Finance programme at Imperial College where he was an external examiner for the MSc Metals and Energy Finance programme. Mark has a PhD in geology and geostatistics and is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.
Peter Rose
Peter has more than 25 years of experience as a mining equities analyst. He started his analyst career with Pru Bache and James Capel in Australia, and later became, Senior Mining Analyst at Deutsche Bank and Brandon Hill Capital. Peter was trained as a metallurgist and spent 16 years in the industry prior to entering banking. His industry experience includes roles with De Beers and Ranger Uranium. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Mining & Metallurgy.
Gaius King
Gaius is approaching three decades of experience in commodities, primarily in Australia and the UK, including underground and surface mining operations, exploration, corporate finance, mineral economics and as a resource analyst; for WMC, Outokumpu, DJ Carmichael, WHI Securities, WH Ireland, HD Capital, Numis, Metalytics, Aegis Equities and Smartkarma. He has conducted fundamental supply and demand analysis on iron ore, nickel, REEs, and lithium, among other commodities. As an analyst, he has specialised primarily in the mid-tier/junior mining sectors, covering numerous mining stocks on the ASX and AIM.
The Oil & Gas Team
Lionel Therond, CFA
Lionel Therond has 30-years of experience in oil & gas and banking. Until 2016, Lionel was Head of Oil & Gas Equity and Commodity Research and a Managing Director at Standard Bank, focusing on the financing of mid-size Oil & Gas companies in Emerging and Frontier Markets, in particular sub-Saharan Africa. Lionel joined Standard Bank from Fox-Davies Capital where he was Head of Oil & Gas Research. Prior to that, he was an equity fund manager and buy-side analyst with JPMorgan Asset Management in London. His oil industry experience includes nine years with Royal Dutch Shell managing exploration projects internationally. Lionel has an MBA from INSEAD, a DEA in Geology and Geophysics from Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine and a Diplôme Ingénieur Géologue from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Géologie (Nancy, France). He is a CFA Charterholder and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.
Simon Ashby-Rudd
Simon Ashby-Rudd is an accomplished O&G banking professional with over 30 years of experience having previously run the Oil & Gas teams at Standard Bank, Tristone Capital, and Waterous & Co. He has extensive experience in Europe, North America, and most recently Africa providing financial advice across the sector. He brings a wealth of expertise providing strategic M&A and funding advice to a diverse client base which is now increasingly essential given the challenges and opportunities facing the energy sector as the world transitions to a low carbon economy.
Ed Johnson
Ed has significant experience at board level in the oil and gas sector. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Minotaur Environmental Services, a leading provider of soil remediation, oil sands production and water treatment services to the energy sector. Minotaur is active in Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa.
Ed’s previous executive roles have included Partner at Lothian Oil & Gas Partners, Chief Executive Officer at AIM-listed Sirius Petroleum Plc, Head of the New Markets Oil Team at Renaissance Capital, a leading emerging markets investment bank, and Head of Oil & Gas Specialist Sales at Canaccord Adams in London. Prior to Canaccord, Ed was a Partner at NewSmith Capital Partners, responsible for the Resources and Energy fund. He has also worked at Merrill Lynch and Barclays Capital.

Carrie Howes
Carrie Howes has Over 20 years’ experience in the Financial industry working in various roles from sell side to marketing and fundraising.
Formerly an institutional Broker with Union Securities International London, UK, for 8 years and later with Moore Clayton & Co. for 3 years as a Managing Director of European Investor Relations, she was responsible for arranging financing and exposure meetings in the UK and Europe for junior companies. Later managing a successful IR company in Europe, Carrie has worked with numerous clients focusing on the Junior market and its undiscovered gems, with sector emphasis on Mining and Resource, Oil and Gas, Biotechnology, Technology & Environmental.
Ms Howes previously sat on the Board of Directors for Takara Resources (TKK; TSX) and was the Director of Investor Relations for Proactive Investors One2One investor Forums, Germany.
Ms. Howes was FSA licensed as a registered representative with Union Securities, MCC Global and Spencer Clarke prior to starting Rayleigh Capital, and formerly worked with the Securities Institute as a SFA Exam Writer and Editor. She received her B.A.(HON) in Psychology and Business from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
Jerry Keen
Jerry is specialist sales in the oil gas and mining sectors.
Prior to joining Fox Davies Capital in 2022 he was Head of Natural Resources at Shore Capital for over a decade and built a highly successful franchise, raising well over £1 bn for clients.
Jerry previously worked for Numis Securities, UBS in London, New York and Hong Kong and has a Masters in Finance from London Business School.
